INTRODUCTION

A kitchen renovation is a major investment. You spend hours selecting the quartz countertops and the shaker cabinets, but the functionality of your kitchen depends entirely on the plumbing behind the walls.

At Blackmon Plumbing, we partner with homeowners and contractors to handle the “Mechanical Scope” of the remodel. Whether you are converting from an electric stove to a gas cooktop, moving the sink to a new island, or installing a pot filler over the stove, we execute the work with Master Plumber precision.

The "Chef's Kitchen" Upgrade: Gas Infrastructure

Modern “Pro-Style” appliances (Wolf, Viking, Thermador) require more than just a standard hookup.

Gas Volume: A 6-burner professional range can demand 60,000+ BTUs. If you connect it to an old 1/2-inch line, you will get weak flames and slow boiling times. We upsize the line to 3/4-inch or 1-inch to deliver full power.

Pot Fillers: We run the cold water line inside the wall behind your stove. Precision is key here—we rough it in at the exact height to clear your tallest stock pot without hitting the range hood.

Moving the Sink: The "Island Loop" Challenge

Want to move your sink from the window to the island? It’s not as simple as extending a pipe.

The Venting Issue: Every drain needs a distinct air vent to prevent gurgling and sewer gas smells. Since an island has no wall to hide a vertical vent stack, we must install a specialized Island Loop Vent or a code-compliant Air Admittance Valve (AAV).

The Slab Work: We carefully saw-cut the concrete slab to relocate the sewer drain to the center of the room.

Sinks & Faucets: The Finish Work

We install the high-end fixtures that handymen struggle with.

The "Ice & Water" Connections

Don’t forget the fridge.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Q: Can I switch from an electric stove to gas?

A: Yes. We can run a new gas line from your meter or attic to the kitchen. We verify that your meter has the capacity to handle the new load.

Q: Do you install the dishwasher?

A: Yes. We handle the water supply and drain connection. (Note: Hardwiring the electrical is typically done by an electrician, but we handle the plumbing side).

Q: Why does my new faucet have low pressure?

A: It might be clogged with construction debris. After a remodel, we flush the lines before installing the aerator to ensure sediment doesn’t block the flow.

Q: How much does it cost to move a kitchen sink?

A: It depends on the distance and whether we need to cut the slab. Moving a sink 3 feet along the same wall is simple. Moving it to an island requires slab work, new venting, and potentially structural coordination. We provide flat-rate pricing after a site visit.

Q: What’s the difference between a pot filler and a regular faucet?

A: A pot filler is a swing-arm faucet mounted on the wall behind your cooktop for filling large pots without carrying them from the sink. It requires running a dedicated cold water line inside the wall with precise rough-in height (typically 12-18 inches above the cooktop).
