Q: Can I buy my own toilet and have you install it?
A: Yes. We are happy to install customer-supplied fixtures. However, we cannot warranty the parts inside the tank (fill valve, flapper) if we didn’t provide them. If the toilet you purchased develops a leak or internal failure, those repairs would be charged separately. We always recommend purchasing through us because we can warranty the entire unit.
Q: Why does my toilet run constantly?
A: It usually means the “Flapper” (the rubber seal at the bottom of the tank) is warped, or the Fill Valve is failing. We can rebuild the internal tank components without replacing the whole toilet. This repair typically costs $150-$250 depending on the parts needed.
Q: Do you haul away the old toilet?
A: Yes. We remove the old unit and dispose of it properly. You are never left with a toilet on your curb. We take it to a certified recycling facility where the porcelain is crushed and reused.
Q: How long does a toilet last?
A: A high-quality toilet (Toto, American Standard) can last 20-30 years or more. The internal components (flapper, fill valve) may need replacement every 5-10 years, but the porcelain fixture itself is extremely durable.
Q: Can you match the color of my old toilet?
A: We can try, but older color codes (like “Harvest Gold” or “Avocado Green”) from the 1970s-80s are no longer manufactured. Modern toilets come in White, Biscuit (off-white), and occasionally Bone or Almond. If color matching is critical, we can special-order, but it may take 2-4 weeks.
Q: Do I need a permit to replace a toilet?
A: No. Toilet replacement is considered a “like-for-like” swap and does not require a permit in Houston. However, if we’re also repairing the subfloor or moving the drain location, a permit may be required.
